Kailua Moon
Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award-nominated duo Kailua Moon was formed in 2016 by Hawai‘i-born slack key guitarist Danny Carvalho and singer/songwriter & kumu hula Nani Carvalho. Blending the warmth of Hawaiian classics with the storytelling soul of country, Americana, and ‘70s rock and roll. Since their debut, they have toured extensively across the U.S., sharing Hawaiian music and culture with audiences nationwide. Before coming together as Kailua Moon, both artists spent over a decade performing solo, honing their craft and building strong musical foundations.
Nani Carvalho
Nani Carvalho is a singer-songwriter and kumu hula whose Hawaiian heritage and connection to hula are central to her artistry. Raised in Ventura, California, her versatile vocal style draws from Hawaiian, folk, blues, rock and pop influences. Alongside her husband Danny, Nani brings dynamic vocals, harmony and cultural grounding to the sound of Kailua Moon.
Danny Carvalho
Grammy and Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award-nominated Danny Carvalho is a Hawaiʻi-born slack key guitarist, vocalist, producer and audio engineer. A student of renowned slack key guitarist Ozzie Kotani from the age of 10, Danny has emerged as part of a new generation carrying the tradition forward through both performance and recording. He performs as a solo artist, alongside some of Hawaiʻi's most recognized musicians, and with his wife Nani as Kailua Moon.
