The Henry Kapono Foundation is proud to make its first donation to “The Friends of Malani Bilyeu”

Carl James Malani Bilyeu was one of 4 original founding members of the Legendary Hawaii Band, Kalapana. Along side Cecilio & Kapono, The Beamer Brothers, Olomana and others, Kalapana forged new territory in Hawaii’s music in a time that became known as the “Hawaiian Renaissance” which paved the way for generations of young Hawaii musicians to spread their wings and artistic talents. Malani’s contribution to Hawaii’s music & inspiration to our young musicians will live on forever.

A lifelong career musician, Malani also served in Vietnam in the Army. He passed away suddenly at the age of 69 and was survived by his wife Crystal and his 9 children, The Henry Kapono Foundation was honored to donate to “The Friends of Malani Bilyeu” to assist with Malani’s services and support his Ohana.
