She was trained in Hawaiian dance at Hālau Na Mamo ʻO Kaʻala under the direction of Kumu Hula Noelani Chang and Hula Hālau ʻO Kamuela, instructed by Kumu Hula Kauʻi Kamanaʻo & Kunewa Mook. Over the past two decades, Malia performed extensively as a solo hula dancer in Hawaiʻi, Japan, Korea, Australia, Europe and throughout the U.S. In Hawaiʻi, Malia performed as a Polynesian Dancer in Germaine’s Lūʻau, Paradise Cove Lūʻau, Tihati Productions, and Atlantis Cruises. She also danced at Tokyo Disneyland‘s Polynesian Paradise show for four consecutive years and co-directed Polynesian Dance Productions in New York City for eight years. Malia previously had the wonderful opportunity to perform hula with legendary Hawaiian artists such as Mākaha Sons, Henry Kapono, Hawaiian Style Band and Sistah Robi Kahakalau. Malia is a conversational speaker of ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian language), and learned other languages in her time abroad, including Japanese and Italian.
